1 1 Section 1. Section 214A.1, Code 1999, is amended by adding
1 2 the following new subsections:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 2A. "Motor vehicle fuel pump" means the
1 4 same as defined in section 214.1.
1 5 NEW SUBSECTION. 2B. "Motor vehicle fuel storage tank
1 6 equipment" means a motor vehicle fuel storage tank and motor
1 7 vehicle fuel storage tank piping.
1 8 NEW SUBSECTION. 2C. "Motor vehicle fuel storage tank"
1 9 means a tank that is a fixture on the surface or underground
1 10 on the premises of a retail dealer, if the motor vehicle fuel
1 11 storage tank and motor vehicle fuel storage tank piping are
1 12 used to store and dispense gasoline to customers on a retail
1 13 basis.
1 14 NEW SUBSECTION. 2D. "Motor vehicle fuel storage tank
1 15 piping" means any rigid or flexible piping used to transport
1 16 motor vehicle fuel from a motor vehicle fuel storage tank to a
1 17 motor vehicle fuel pump.
1 18 Sec. 2. NEW SECTION. 214A.18 MOTOR VEHICLE FUEL STORAGE
1 19 EQUIPMENT.
1 20 A retail dealer shall not install motor vehicle fuel
1 21 storage tank equipment used to store or dispense gasoline,
1 22 unless the motor vehicle fuel storage tank equipment is
1 23 compatible with the storage and dispensing of ethanol.
1 24 EXPLANATION
1 25 This bill requires retail dealers to install only motor
1 26 vehicle fuel storage tank equipment which is compatible with
1 27 the storage and dispensing of ethanol. Motor vehicle fuel
1 28 storage tank equipment includes the motor vehicle fuel storage
1 29 tank and the motor vehicle fuel storage tank piping.
