1 1 Section 1. TRANSPLANT COVERAGE UNDER STANDARD HEALTH PLAN.
1 2 The insurance commissioner, pursuant to the commissioner's
1 3 authority under section 513B.14, shall increase the lifetime
1 4 maximum benefit for transplants of bodily organs under a
1 5 standard health benefit plan provided under 191 IAC 71.14 from
1 6 eighty percent of one hundred thousand dollars to eighty
1 7 percent of two hundred fifty thousand dollars. Such increase
1 8 shall be made effective for a standard health benefit plan
1 9 delivered, issued for delivery, continued, or renewed in this
1 10 state on or after July 1, 2000.
1 11 EXPLANATION
1 12 This bill directs the insurance commissioner to increase
1 13 the lifetime maximum benefit under a standard health benefit
1 14 plan for transplants of bodily organs from 80 percent of
1 15 $100,000 to 80 percent of $250,000. The increase is to be
1 16 made effective for a standard health benefit plan delivered,
1 17 issued for delivery, continued, or renewed in this state on or
1 18 after July 1, 2000.
