1 1 Section 1. STATE OFFICE SECURITY ANALYSIS – REPORT. The
1 2 department of general services shall conduct, in consultation
1 3 with the department of public safety and other affected
1 4 departments and branches of government, a complete security
1 5 analysis of state offices, buildings, and grounds located at
1 6 the seat of government as described in section 18.8, as well
1 7 as security concerns of other state employees located in
1 8 offices throughout the state. The department shall consider,
1 9 in particular, those offices and employees that deal with the
1 10 criminal justice system. In conducting the analysis, the
1 11 department shall consider and make recommendations concerning
1 12 possible security improvements and other measures that if
1 13 implemented would increase the security of state buildings and
1 14 employees, as well as the cost of such improvements or
1 15 measures. The department shall submit a report concerning the
1 16 results of its findings and recommendations to the general
1 17 assembly by January 1, 2001.
1 18 EXPLANATION
1 19 This bill requires the department of general services to
1 20 conduct a security analysis of state buildings and grounds,
1 21 offices, and employees, and to report to the general assembly
1 22 concerning its findings and recommendations by January 1,
1 23 2001. The department shall consult the department of public
1 24 safety, and other relevant departments and branches of
1 25 government, in conducting its analysis and shall emphasize the
1 26 security concerns of those in the criminal justice system.
