1 1 Section 1. Section 327F.39, Code 1999, is amended by
1 2 adding the following new subsection:
1 3 NEW SUBSECTION. 5A. HOURS OF SERVICE FOR DRIVERS. The
1 4 director shall adopt rules relating to the maximum number of
1 5 hours of service that can be provided by operators of vehicles
1 6 for hire which transport more than six persons, including the
1 7 operator, if such operators are employed by or under contract
1 8 with a railroad company to provide transportation for railroad
1 9 workers to and from their places of employment or during the
1 10 course of their employment.
1 11 EXPLANATION
1 12 This bill requires the director of transportation to adopt
1 13 rules relating to the maximum number of hours of service that
1 14 can be provided by operators of vehicles for hire that
1 15 transport more than six persons, including the operator, if
1 16 the operators are employed by or under contract with a
1 17 railroad to provide transportation for railroad workers to and
1 18 from their places of employment or during the course of their
1 19 employment.
