1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 461A.14A ACQUISITION OR DISPOSAL
1 2 – PUBLIC HEARING REQUIRED.
1 3 Before acquiring or disposing of state lands and waters
1 4 relating to state parks, the commission shall hold a public
1 5 hearing on the proposed acquisition or disposal of such lands
1 6 and waters at which parties in interest and citizens of the
1 7 area shall have an opportunity to be heard. The commission
1 8 shall publish notice of the hearing. The notice shall
1 9 definitely describe the property, shall indicate the time,
1 10 date, and location of the hearing, and shall be published at
1 11 least once each week for two consecutive weeks in a newspaper
1 12 having general circulation in the county in which the property
1 13 is located.
1 14 After the public hearing, the commission may make a final
1 15 determination on the proposal.
1 16 EXPLANATION
1 17 This bill requires the natural resource commission to hold
1 18 a public hearing on the proposed acquisition or disposal of
1 19 state lands and waters relating to state parks. Notice of the
1 20 public hearing must be published twice before the hearing in a
1 21 newspaper of general circulation in the county in which the
1 22 property is located.
