1 1 Section 1. SCHOOL DISTRICT REORGANIZATION AND SHARING
1 2 INCENTIVES STUDY. The department of education shall study the
1 3 feasibility of reauthorizing, or initiating new, school
1 4 district reorganization and sharing incentives. The study
1 5 shall include a review of incentives intended to encourage
1 6 school districts to share administrators and shall include a
1 7 determination of the costs and methods for implementing the
1 8 incentives identified. The department shall report its
1 9 findings, including any recommendations, to the chairpersons
1 10 and ranking members of the senate and house standing
1 11 committees on education and of the joint education
1 12 appropriations subcommittees during the second regular session
1 13 of the Seventy-eighth General Assembly.
1 14 EXPLANATION
1 15 This bill requires the department of education to conduct a
1 16 feasibility study of school district reorganization and
1 17 sharing incentives, both recent and new, and to determine the
1 18 costs and methods of implementing the incentives identified.
1 19 The department is directed to report its findings, including
1 20 any recommendations, to the chairpersons and ranking members
1 21 of the senate and house standing committees on education and
1 22 of the joint education appropriations subcommittees during the
1 23 2000 session of the general assembly.
