  1  4 PROVIDING RESIDENCY STATUS TO CERTAIN MEMBERS OF THE ARMED
  1  5    FORCES FOR PURPOSES OF HUNTING, FISHING, AND FUR HARVESTING.
  1  6 
  1  7 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
  1  8 
  1  9    Section 1.  Section 483A.1A, subsection 4, Code 1999, is
  1 10 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
  1 11    NEW PARAGRAPH.  d.  Is a member of the armed forces of the
  1 12 United States serving on active duty, claims residency in this
  1 13 state, and has filed a state individual income tax return as a
  1 14 resident pursuant to chapter 422, division II, for the
  1 15 preceding tax year.
  1 16    Sec. 2.  2000 Iowa Acts, House File 2486, section 5, if
  1 17 enacted, is amended to read as follows:
  1 18    SEC. 5.  Section 483A.1A, subsection 4, Code 1999, is
  1 19 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
  1 20    d. e.  Is registered to vote in this state.
  1 21    Sec. 3.  Section 483A.24, subsection 6, Code Supplement
  1 22 1999, is amended to read as follows:
  1 23    6.  No A license shall not be required of minor pupils of
  1 24 the state school for the blind, state school for the deaf, nor
  1 25 or of minor residents of other state institutions under the
  1 26 control of an administrator of a division of the department of
  1 27 human services, nor shall any.  In addition, a person who is
  1 28 on active duty with the armed forces of the United States, on
  1 29 authorized leave from a duty station located outside of this
  1 30 state, and a legal resident of the state of Iowa, shall not be
  1 31 required to have a license to hunt or fish in this state.  The
  1 32 military personnel person shall carry their the person's leave
  1 33 papers and a copy of the person's current earnings statement
  1 34 showing a deduction for Iowa income taxes while hunting or
  1 35 fishing and, if.  In lieu of carrying the person's earnings
  2  1 statement, the military person may also claim residency if the
  2  2 person is registered to vote in this state.  If a deer or wild
  2  3 turkey is taken, the military person shall immediately contact
  2  4 a state conservation officer to obtain an appropriate tag to
  2  5 transport the animal.  No A license shall not be required of
  2  6 residents of county care facilities or any person who is
  2  7 receiving old-age assistance under chapter 249.
