  1  1    Section 1.  Section 257.16, unnumbered paragraph 2, Code
  1  2 1999, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    All state aids paid under this chapter, unless otherwise
  1  4 stated, shall be paid in monthly installments beginning on
  1  5 September July 15 of a budget year and ending on or about June
  1  6 15 of the budget year as determined by the department of
  1  7 management, taking into consideration the relative budget and
  1  8 cash position of the state resources.  
  1  9                           EXPLANATION 
  1 10    This bill provides that state aid payments payable to
  1 11 school districts pursuant to Code section 257.16 would be
  1 12 payable in 12 monthly installments, from July 15 through June
  1 13 15, annually.  Previously, the payments have been payable in
  1 14 10 monthly installments, from September 15 through June 15,
  1 15 annually.
