1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 483A.28 NONRESIDENT HUNTING
1 2 FACILITIES.
1 3 1. As used in this section:
1 4 a. "Owner" means owner as defined in section 483A.24.
1 5 b. "Farm unit" means farm unit as defined in section
1 6 483A.24.
1 7 2. The department shall issue, upon request and without
1 8 fee, to the owner of a farm unit not more than one hundred
1 9 deer or wild turkey licenses for nonresident hunters. The
1 10 owner may issue a license to an nonresident hunter to hunt for
1 11 one week for an antlered deer or wild tom turkey on the
1 12 owner's farm unit.
1 13 3. Each license shall be valid for the following purposes:
1 14 a. For one week of hunting during a spring wild turkey
1 15 season and the wild turkey or deer seasons from October 1
1 16 until the succeeding January 10.
1 17 b. For either a bow and arrow or muzzleloader.
1 18 c. For hunting on the farm unit of the owner who provides
1 19 the license to the nonresident hunter.
1 20 d. For only antlered deer of eight points or more or a
1 21 wild tom turkey with a beard of six inches or longer.
1 22 EXPLANATION
1 23 This bill requires the department of natural resources to
1 24 distribute upon request of an owner of a farm unit not more
1 25 than 100 deer or wild turkey licenses to be used during the
1 26 spring wild turkey season and the deer or wild turkey seasons
1 27 from October 1 through the succeeding January 10. The owner
1 28 of the farm unit may issue the licenses to nonresident hunters
1 29 to hunt for one week for deer or wild turkey, as applicable,
1 30 on the owner's farm unit. Weapons are restricted to a bow and
1 31 arrow or muzzleloader and the game is restricted to an
1 32 antlered deer of eight points or more or a wild tom turkey
1 33 with a beard of six inches or longer.
