  1  4 CONCERNING NONSUBSTANTIVE GENDER-RELATED PROVISIONS IN THE
  1  5    CODE.  
  1  6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA:
  1  7 
  1  8    Section 1.  Section 331.441, subsection 2, paragraph c,
  1  9 subparagraph (1), Code 1999, is amended to read as follows:
  1 10    (1)  A memorial building or monument to commemorate the
  1 11 service rendered by soldiers, sailors, and marines members of
  1 12 the armed services of the United States, including the
  1 13 acquisition of ground and the purchase, erection,
  1 14 construction, reconstruction, and equipment of the building or
  1 15 monument, to be managed by a commission as provided in chapter
  1 16 37.
  1 17    Sec. 2.  Section 554.1102, subsection 5, Code 1999, is
  1 18 amended to read as follows:
  1 19    5.  In this chapter, unless the context otherwise
  1 20 requires:,
  1 21    a.  words in the singular number include the plural, and in
  1 22 the plural include the singular;.
  1 23    b.  words of the masculine gender include the feminine and
  1 24 the neuter, and when the sense so indicates words of the
  1 25 neuter gender may refer to any gender.
  1 26    Sec. 3.  Section 602.8105, subsection 2, paragraph c, Code
  1 27 1999, is amended to read as follows:
  1 28    c.  For a certificate and seal, ten dollars.  However,
  1 29 there shall be no charge for a certificate and seal to an
  1 30 application to procure a pension, bounty, or back pay for a
  1 31 soldier member of the armed services or other person.
  1 32    Sec. 4.  Section 633.4, Code 1999, is repealed.

  2 14 words "property lessor".

  2 16 562B.27, 627.6, 808B.5, 808B.12, and 808B.13, Code Supplement
  2 17 1999, are amended by striking from the sections the word
  2 18 "landlord" and inserting in lieu thereof the words "property
  2 19 lessor".
  2 20    3.  Sections 554.9104, 562A.12, 562A.13, 562A.15, 562A.18,
  2 21 562A.19, 562A.21, 562A.22, 562A.23, 562A.24, 562A.26, 562A.27,
  2 22 562A.27A, 562A.30, 562A.34, 562A.36, 562B.13, 562B.14,
  2 23 562B.19, 562B.24, 562B.25, 562B.25A, 562B.28, 562B.30,
  2 24 562B.32, 570.3, 570.4, 570.6, 570.7, 570.9, 571.2, and 646.11,
  2 25 Code 1999, are amended by striking from the sections the word
  2 26 "landlord's" and inserting in lieu thereof the words "property
  2 27 lessor's".
  2 28    4.  Sections 321.47, 562A.8, 562B.9, and 562B.27, Code
  2 29 Supplement 1999, are amended by striking from the sections the
  2 30 word "landlord's" and inserting in lieu thereof the words
  2 31 "property lessor's".
  2 32    5.  The Iowa Code editor is directed to strike the words
  2 33 "landlord" and "landlord's" and insert the words "property
  2 34 lessor" and "property lessor's" wherever the word "landlord"
  2 35 or "landlord's" appears in the Iowa Code unless a contrary
  3  1 intent is clearly evident.
