PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 84A.4, subsection 1, Code 1999, is 1 2 amended to read as follows: 1 3 1. A regional advisory board shall be established in each 1 4 service delivery area as defined in section 84B.2. The 1 5 members of the board shall be appointed by the governor, 1 6 consistent with the requirements of federal law and in 1 7 consultation with chief elected officials within the region. 1 8 Chief elected officials responsible for recommendations for 1 9 board membership shall include, but are not limited to, county 1 10 elected officials, municipal elected officials, and community 1 11 college directors. The membership of each board shall provide 1 12 for equal representation of business and labor and shall 1 13 include a county elected official, a city official, a 1 14 representative of a school district, and a representative of a 1 15 community college. In addition, the membership of each board 1 16 shall include, as nonvoting members, elder workers or 1 17 representatives from organizations concerned with the elderly, 1 18 persons with disabilities or representatives from 1 19 organizations concerned with the disabled, and other persons 1 20 or representatives of organizations as the chief elected 1 21 officials within the region determine to be appropriate. 1 22 EXPLANATION 1 23 This bill provides that the membership of regional advisory 1 24 boards contain, as nonvoting members, elderly workers or 1 25 representatives from organizations concerned with the elderly, 1 26 persons with disabilities or representatives from 1 27 organizations concerned with the disabled, and other persons 1 28 or representatives the chief elected officials of the region 1 29 deems appropriate. 1 30 LSB 2820HH 78 1 31 ec/cf/24
