  1  1    Section 1.  Section 259.4, subsections 6 and 7, Code 1999,
  1  2 are amended to read as follows:
  1  3    6.  Do those things necessary to secure the rehabilitation
  1  4 of those individuals entitled to the benefits of this chapter,
  1  5 including those individuals with severe significant
  1  6 disabilities.
  1  7    7.  Provide rehabilitation services to individuals with
  1  8 severe significant disabilities who are homebound, and other
  1  9 individuals with severe significant disabilities, who can
  1 10 wholly or substantially achieve an ability to live
  1 11 independently.  
  1 12                           EXPLANATION 
  1 13    This bill changes the term "individuals with severe
  1 14 disabilities", which occurs in the vocational rehabilitation
  1 15 chapter of the Iowa Code.  The bill strikes the word "severe"
  1 16 and replaces it with the word "significant" in response to a
  1 17 similar change in the phrasing of the federal Rehabilitation
  1 18 Act Amendments of 1998.
