PAG LIN 1 1 Section 1. Section 216A.2, subsection 9, Code 1999, is 1 2 amended by striking the subsection. 1 3 Sec. 2. Section 216A.2, unnumbered paragraph 2, Code 1999, 1 4 is amended to read as follows: 1 5 The governor shall appoint the administrators of each of 1 6 the divisions, except for the division of persons with1 7disabilities,subject to confirmation by the senate. Each 1 8 administrator shall serve at the pleasure of the governor and 1 9 is exempt from the merit system provisions of chapter 19A. 1 10 The governor shall set the salary of the division 1 11 administrators within the ranges set by the general assembly. 1 12 Sec. 3. Section 216A.71, subsection 1, Code 1999, is 1 13 amended to read as follows: 1 14 1. "Administrator" means the administrator of the division 1 15 of persons with disabilities of the department of human 1 16 rights. 1 17 EXPLANATION 1 18 This bill provides for the establishment of an independent 1 19 administrator of the division of persons with disabilities 1 20 within the department of human rights. The bill deletes 1 21 references in the Code which previously provided that the 1 22 position of administrator for the division is the director of 1 23 the department of human rights. 1 24 LSB 2687YH 78 1 25 rn/jw/5
