1 1 Section 1. Section 135H.6, subsection 2, Code 1999, is
1 2 amended to read as follows:
1 3 2. The proposed psychiatric institution is accredited by
1 4 the joint commission on the accreditation of health care
1 5 organizations, the council on accreditation, the commission on
1 6 accreditation of rehabilitation facilities, or any other
1 7 federally recognized accrediting entity with comparable
1 8 standards.
1 9 EXPLANATION
1 10 This bill provides that, for the purpose of obtaining a
1 11 license, in addition to the current accreditation by the joint
1 12 commission on the accreditation of health care organizations,
1 13 psychiatric medical institutions for children may also be
1 14 accredited by the council on accreditation, the commission on
1 15 accreditation of rehabilitation facilities, or any other
1 16 federally recognized accrediting entity with comparable
1 17 standards.
