  1  1    Section 1.  Section 321.123, subsection 1, unnumbered
  1  2 paragraph 2, Code 1999, is amended to read as follows:
  1  3    A travel trailer may be stored under section 321.134,
  1  4 provided the travel trailer is not used for human habitation
  1  5 for any period during storage and is not moved upon the
  1  6 highways of the state at any time during storage.  A travel
  1  7 trailer stored under section 321.134 is not subject to a
  1  8 mobile home tax assessed under chapter 435.  
  1  9                           EXPLANATION
  1 10    This bill amends Code section 321.123, relating to
  1 11 registration of trailers, to eliminate the requirement that a
  1 12 travel trailer not be used for human habitation during a
  1 13 period of storage.  A vehicle is exempt from registration
  1 14 requirements if placed in storage by surrendering the
  1 15 vehicle's registration plates to the county treasurer pursuant
  1 16 to Code section 321.134.  A travel trailer placed in storage
  1 17 must still comply with the requirement that the travel trailer
  1 18 not be moved upon the highways of the state.
