1 1 Section 1. NEW SECTION. 237A.24 CHILD DAY CARE PROVIDER
1 2 TRAINING.
1 3 1. A child day care provider training program shall be
1 4 established at each community college in support of persons
1 5 providing or administering child day care services. The
1 6 curriculum for the training program shall be jointly developed
1 7 by the department of education, community colleges, and child
1 8 development faculty of the university of northern Iowa.
1 9 2. The Iowa cooperative extension service in agriculture
1 10 and home economics at Iowa state university shall work with
1 11 child day care resource and referral service grantees under
1 12 section 237A.26 in providing a program of continuing education
1 13 to persons providing or administering child day care services.
1 14 EXPLANATION
1 15 This bill relates to child day care provider training and
1 16 education.
1 17 New Code section 237A.24 amends the child day care
1 18 facilities law. The bill requires a child day care provider
1 19 training program to be established at each community college.
1 20 The program is to be jointly developed by the department of
1 21 education, community colleges, and the child development
1 22 faculty at the university of northern Iowa.
1 23 In addition, the bill provides that the Iowa cooperative
1 24 extension service in agriculture and home economics at Iowa
1 25 state university is to work with child day care resource and
1 26 referral service grantees under Code section 237A.26 in
1 27 providing a program of continuing education to persons
1 28 providing or administering child day care services.
