1 12 "Sec. . PHARMACEUTICAL CASE MANAGEMENT STUDY.
1 13 There is appropriated from the general fund of the
1 14 state to the department of human services for the
1 15 fiscal year beginning July 1, 2000, and ending June
1 16 30, 2001, the following amount or so much thereof as
1 17 is necessary, to be used for implementation of a
1 18 disease-specific pharmaceutical case management study
1 19 to measure the effects of case management for medical
1 20 assistance recipients identified by the department as
1 21 high risk for medication-related problems. The funds
1 22 shall be used to equally reimburse physician-
1 23 pharmacist teams who participate in the study. An
1 24 advisory committee whose membership consists of
1 25 representatives of the Iowa medical society, the Iowa
1 26 pharmacy association, and the department of human
1 27 services shall establish and implement the
1 28 pharmaceutical case management study. The university
1 29 of Iowa college of public health, in conjunction with
1 30 the colleges of medicine and pharmacy, shall perform
1 31 an evaluation of the study at no cost to the state and
1 32 shall submit a final report of the findings of the
1 33 evaluation and any recommendations to the general
1 34 assembly by December 15, 2002. The department shall
1 35 submit a progress report by December 15, 2001, and a
1 36 final report by December 15, 2002, to the general
1 37 assembly. The department shall adopt rules to
1 38 implement this section which comply with the notice of
1 39 intended action requirements of section 17A.4,
1 40 subsection 1, and which may be adopted as emergency
1 41 rules pursuant to section 17A.5, subsection 2, after
1 42 notice is provided. The rules shall be reevaluated by
1 43 the department of human services with input from the
1 44 Iowa medical society and the Iowa pharmacy
1 45 association, upon submission of the final report or by
1 46 December 15, 2002, whichever occurs first:
