1 1 Amend Senate File 2418, as passed by the Senate, as
1 2 follows:
1 3 #1. Page 1, by striking lines 1 through 15, and
1 4 inserting the following:
1 5 "Section 1. Section 359.17, Code 1999, is amended
1 6 by adding the following new unnumbered paragraph:
1 7 NEW UNNUMBERED PARAGRAPH. If a township fails to
1 8 certify property taxes by March 15, the amount of
1 9 taxes collected by the county for the township shall
1 10 be the amount collected for the township in the
1 11 previous fiscal year to the extent that it does not
1 12 exceed the applicable levy rate limits in this
1 13 chapter. However, that amount may not exceed the
1 14 amount the township could collect based on property
1 15 assessments for the fiscal year for which the township
1 16 failed to certify property taxes."
1 17 #2. Page 1, by striking lines 17 through 22.
1 18 #3. Page 1, line 23, by striking the figure "2."
1 19 #4. Page 1, line 23, by inserting after the word
1 20 "Act," the following: "or any other provision of the
1 21 Code to the contrary,".
1 22 #5. Page 1, line 25, by striking the word and
1 23 figure "April 15" and inserting the following: "May
1 24 1".
1 25 #6. Page 1, by inserting after line 27, the
1 26 following:
1 27 "Sec. . CONTINGENT REPEAL. If section 359.49,
1 28 relating to the consequences of a township's failure
1 29 to certify property taxes, is enacted by 2000 Iowa
1 30 Acts, House File 2492, section 1, of this Act is
1 31 repealed."
