  1  1    Amend House File 2146, as passed by the House, as
  1  2 follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 1, by inserting before line 1 the
  1  4 following:
  1  5    "Section 1.  Section 256.7, Code 1999, is amended
  1  6 by adding the following new subsection:
  1  7    NEW SUBSECTION.  22.  Adopt rules and a procedure
  1  8 for the approval of para-educator preparation programs
  1  9 offered by a public school district, area education
  1 10 agency, community college, institution of higher
  1 11 education under the state board of regents, or an
  1 12 accredited private institution as defined in section
  1 13 261.9, subsection 1.  The programs shall train and
  1 14 recommend individuals for para-educator certification
  1 15 under section 272.12."
  1 16    #2.  By renumbering as necessary.
