  1  1    Amend House File 2530 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 176, by inserting after line 18, the
  1  3 following:
  1  4    "Sec.    .  INTERIM RATES AND CHARGES.
  1  5    1.  Notwithstanding the provisions of this Act, the
  1  6 rates and charges for electric service provided by
  1  7 such provider applicable to all end-use consumers, at
  1  8 the option of the incumbent provider, shall be set
  1  9 pursuant to one of the following methods:
  1 10    a.  The rates and charges shall be reduced for each
  1 11 customer class by three percent.
  1 12    b.  The rates and charges shall reflect cost-based
  1 13 rates and charges that are based on a rate proceeding
  1 14 under chapter 476.
  1 15    2.  Rates and charges established pursuant to this
  1 16 section shall be effective January 1, 2001."
  1 17    #2.  By renumbering as necessary.
