1 1 Amend Senate File 2113, as passed by the Senate, as
1 2 follows:
1 3 #1. Page 1, by inserting after line 19 the
1 4 following:
1 5 "Sec. . Section 152C.1, subsection 3, Code
1 6 1999, is amended to read as follows:
1 7 3. "Massage therapy" means performance for
1 8 compensation of massage, myotherapy, massotherapy,
1 9 bodywork, bodywork therapy, or therapeutic massage
1 10 including hydrotherapy, superficial hot and cold
1 11 applications, vibration and topical applications, or
1 12 other therapy which involves manipulation of the
1 13 muscle and connective tissue of the body, excluding
1 14 osseous tissue, to treat the muscle tonus system for
1 15 the purpose of enhancing health, muscle relaxation,
1 16 increasing range of motion, reducing stress, relieving
1 17 pain, or improving circulation. "Massage therapy"
1 18 does not include diagnosis or service which requires a
1 19 license to practice medicine or surgery, osteopathic
1 20 medicine and surgery, osteopathy, chiropractic,
1 21 cosmetology arts and sciences, or podiatry, and does
1 22 not include service performed by athletic trainers,
1 23 technicians, nurses, occupational therapists, or
1 24 physical therapists who act under a professional
1 25 license, certificate, or registration or under the
1 26 prescription or supervision of a person licensed to
1 27 practice medicine or surgery or osteopathic medicine
1 28 and surgery."
1 29 #2. Page 1, line 32, by inserting after the word
1 30 "offense" the following: ", with the maximum penalty
1 31 not to exceed ten thousand dollars".
1 32 #3. Page 3, line 19, by striking the word
1 33 "subsections" and inserting the following:
1 34 "subsection".
1 35 #4. By renumbering as necessary.
