  1  1    Amend Senate File 209, as passed by the Senate, as
  1  2 follows:
  1  3    #1.  By striking page 1, line 4, through page 2,
  1  4 line 10, and inserting the following:
  1  5    "Sec.    .  NEW SECTION.  144D.3  LEGAL CRITERIA
  1  6 FOR DETERMINING DEATH.
  1  7    1.  Death occurs when an individual has sustained
  1  8 at least one of the following conditions:
  1  9    a.  Irreversible cessation of circulatory and
  1 10 respiratory functions.
  1 11    b.  Irreversible cessation of all functions of the
  1 12 entire brain, including the brain stem.
  1 13    2.  A determination of death shall be made in
  1 14 accordance with accepted medical standards."
  1 15    #2.  By renumbering as necessary.
