1 2 #1. Page 19, by inserting after line 23, the
1 3 following:
1 4 "13. Of the funds appropriated in this section,
1 5 the department may use up to $207,000 to implement a
1 6 disease-specific pharmaceutical case management study,
1 7 beginning January 1, 2000, to measure the effects of
1 8 case management for medical assistance recipients
1 9 identified by the department as being at high risk for
1 10 medication-related problems. The funds shall be used
1 11 to equally reimburse physician-pharmacist teams for
1 12 participation in the study. An advisory committee
1 13 whose membership consists of representatives of the
1 14 Iowa medical society, the Iowa pharmacy association,
1 15 and the department of human services shall establish
1 16 and implement the pharmaceutical case management
1 17 study. The university of Iowa colleges of medicine
1 18 and pharmacy shall perform an evaluation of the study
1 19 at no cost to the state and shall submit a final
1 20 report of the findings of the evaluation and any
1 21 recommendations to the general assembly by December
1 22 15, 2002. The department shall submit a progress
1 23 report relating to the program by December 15, 2001,
1 24 and a final report by December 15, 2002, to the
1 25 general assembly."
