  CONFIRMATION OF GOVERNOR'S APPOINTMENTS
  (Individual Confirmation Calendar)

  Senator Iverson called up the appointment of Richard H. Opie, as
  Chairperson of the Iowa Telecommunications and Technology
  Commission, placed on the Individual Confirmation Calendar on
  April 2, 1998, and found on page 1050 of the Senate Journal.

  Senator Rife moved that the foregoing appointment be confirmed
  by the Senate.

  On the question "Shall the appointee be confirmed?" the vote was:

  The appointee having received a two-thirds vote was declared to
  have been confirmed by the Senate.

  Senator Iverson called up the appointment of Mary A. Nelson, as
  a member of the Iowa Telecommunications and Technology
  Commission, placed on the Individual Confirmation Calendar on
  April 2, 1998, and found on page 1050 of the Senate Journal.

  Senator Rife moved that the foregoing appointment be confirmed
  by the Senate.
