  PETITION

  The following petition was presented and placed on file by:

  Senator Maddox, from two hundred and fifty residents of Benton,
  Polk, Jasper, and Poweshiek Counties, favoring legislation for the
  exemption of sales tax for massage therapy.

  EXPLANATION OF VOTE

  MADAM PRESIDENT:  I was necessarily absent from the Senate chamber on
  March 25, 1998, when the vote was taken on Amendment S-5066 to Senate File
  2280.
  Had I been present, I would have voted "aye."
