House File 2438, a bill for an act relating to the regulation of commercial feed. Read first time and referred to committee on Agriculture. LEAVES OF ABSENCE Leaves of absence were granted as follows: Senator Lundby for the day, on request of Senator Freeman; Senator Palmer until his arrival, on request of Senator Gronstal. SPECIAL GUEST Senator Kibbie introduced the Honorable Paul Connaughton, a member of the Irish Parliament, who was accompanied by his wife Bernadette. Mr. Connaughton has served as Minister of State at the Department of Agriculture and is currently Fine Gael Spokesperson on Energy and Western Development. Mr. Connaughton addressed the Senate with brief remarks. UNFINISHED BUSINESS (Deferred March 16, 1998) Senate File 2380 The Senate resumed consideration of Senate File 2380, a bill for an act relating to the election of a local exchange carrier to be price- regulated, and amendment S-5250 by Senators Douglas, et al., on March 16, 1998, to pages 3 and 4 of the bill, deferred March 16, 1998. Senator Dvorsky asked and received unanimous consent to withdraw amendment S-5257, filed by him on March 16, 1998, to page 1 of amendment S-5250. Senator Douglas moved the adoption of amendment S-5250, which motion prevailed by a voice vote. Senator Dvorsky asked and received unanimous consent that action on Senate File 2380 be deferred.
