  Senate File 2400, by committee on Local Government, a bill for
  an act relating to the powers and duties of county treasurers and
  including an applicability date provision.

  Read first time and placed on calendar.

  LEAVES OF ABSENCE

  Leaves of absence were granted as follows:

  Senator McKean until his arrival, on request of Senator Iverson; Senators
  McCoy
  and Vilsack until their arrival, on request of Senator Judge; Senators
  Dvorsky and
  Kibbie until their arrival, on request of Senator Black.

  CONFIRMATION OF GOVERNOR'S APPOINTMENTS

  In accordance with Senate Rule 59, Senator Iverson called up the
  following eligible appointees on the En Bloc Confirmation Calendar:

  Ellen T. Larson, Board of Barber Examiners
  Janice L. Wilson, Commission on the Deaf
  Richard J. Haines, Director of the Department of General Services
  Dr. Pamela R. Sessions, Iowa Economic Development Board
  Paula S. Dierenfeld, Utilities Board

  Senator Iverson moved that the foregoing appointees be confirmed
  by the Senate.

  On the question "Shall the appointees be confirmed?" the vote was:
