  AFTERNOON SESSION

  The Senate reconvened at 1:14 p.m., President Kramer presiding.

  QUORUM CALL

  Senator Iverson requested a non-record roll call to determine that
  a quorum was present.

  The vote revealed 40 present, 10 absent and a quorum present.

  LEAVES OF ABSENCE

  Leaves of absence were granted as follows:

  Senators Vilsack and Kibbie until they arrive, on request of Senator
  Gronstal.

  APPOINTEE PLACED ON INDIVIDUAL
  CONFIRMATION CALENDAR

  Senator Hammond requested that Walter L. Kautzky be placed on
  the Individual Confirmation Calendar.

  CONFIRMATION OF GOVERNOR'S APPOINTMENTS

  In accordance with Senate Rule 59, Senator Iverson called up the
  following eligible appointees on the En Bloc Confirmation Calendar:

  James M. Lawrence, City Development Board

  Kathryn L. Baumann-Reese, Administrator of the Division of Deaf
  Services

  Mary Jean Montgomery, State Board of Education

  John C. White, State Board of Education

  Peter Hathaway, Board of Educational Examiners

  Diane R. Weiland, Engineering and Land Surveying Examining
  Board
