  ANNOUNCEMENT OF APPOINTMENTS

  The majority leader announced the following standing committee
  appointments to replace former Senator Jim Lind:

  Senator Bartz is appointed to the Local Government Committee.

  Senator Rehberg is removed from the Local Government Committee and appointed
  as a member of the Appropriations Committee.

  Senator Zieman to the Small Business, Economic Development, and Tourism
  Committee.

  Senator Kramer to the Education Committee.

  Senator Borlaug to the State Government Committee.

  Senator Douglas to the Transportation Committee.

  The president and majority leader announced the following
  appointment:

  Senator John P. Kibbie is appointed to the Investment Board of the IPERS.


  EXPLANATION OF VOTE

  MADAM PRESIDENT: I was necessarily abosent from the Senate chamber on
  March 26, 1997, when the vote was taken on Senate File 241.

  Had I been present, I would have vote "'aye''.
