  Prayer was offered by Father John Heman, pastor of the St. Boniface Catholic
  Church, Garner, Iowa

  The Journal of Wednesday, February 5, 1997, was approved.

  LEAVES OF ABSENCE

  Leaves of absence were granted as follows:

  Senators Kibbie and Gettings for the day on request of Senator Fraise.

  RECESS

  On motion of Senator Iverson, the Senate recessed at 9:21 a.m.,
  until 1:00 p.m.
