  presiding.

  Prayer was offered by Monsignor Frank Chido, pastor of Basilica of Saint
  John, Des Moines, Iowa

  The Journal of Tuesday, February 4, 1997, was approved.

  LEAVES OF ABSENCE

  Leaves of absence were granted as follows:

  Senators Flynn and Kibbie for the day on request of Senator Gronstal.

  RECESS

  On motion of Senator Iverson, the Senate recessed at 9:05 a.m.,
  until 5:00 p.m.
