Garman of Story introduced Mr. Harry Cannon and his wife, Madalene. The House rose in appreciation. IMMEDIATE MESSAGE Siegrist of Pottawattamie asked and received unanimous consent that House File 642 be immediately messaged to the Senate. ADOPTION OF HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 22 Dinkla of Guthrie called up for consideration House Concurent Resolution 22, a concurrent resolution requesting the Legislative Council to establish a task force to study Iowa's system of state and local taxation and requiring reporting by certain dates, amended by the Senate, and moved that the House concur in the following Senate amendment H-1961: H-1961 1 Amend House Concurrent Resolution 22, as amended, 2 passed, and reprinted by the House, as follows: 3 1. Page 2, line 30, by striking the word "shall" 4 and inserting the following: "may". 5 2. Page 3, line 29, by striking the word "force." 6 and inserting the following: "force; and" 7 3. By striking page 3, line 30 through page 4, 8 line 6. 9 4. Page 4, line 14, by inserting after the word 10 "shall" the following: "present a progress". 11 5. Page 4, line 16, by inserting after the word 12 "convening" the following: "and shall present its 13 final report along with any recommendations to the 14 General Assembly meeting in 1999 upon its convening". 15 6. Page 4, by inserting after line 16 the 16 following: 17 "BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That recommendations 18 contained in the progress report prepared by the task 19 force or contained in the final report prepared by the 20 task force shall be drafted as study bills by the 21 legislative service bureau for consideration by the 22 General Assembly." 23 7. By renumbering, relettering, or redesignating 24 and correcting internal references as necessary. The motion prevailed and the House concurred in the Senate amendment H-1961. Dinkla of Guthrie moved the adoption of House Concurrent Resolution 22.
