Mr. Speaker: I am directed to inform your honorable body that
the Senate has on January 15, 1997, adopted the following
resolution in which the concurrence of the House is asked:
Senate Concurrent Resolution 1, a concurrent resolution relating
to the compensation of chaplains, officers and employees of the
seventy-seventh general assembly.

Heaton of Henry requested to be added as a sponsor of House
Concurrent Resolution 4.

CONSIDERATION OF
HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTION 4
Siegrist of Pottawattamie asked and received unanimous consent
for the immediate consideration of House Concurrent Resolution
4, a concurrent resolution requesting the Congress of the United
States to submit to the States for ratification a balanced
budget amendment to the United States Constitution, and moved
its adoption.
The motion prevailed and the resolution was adopted. 
IMMEDIATE MESSAGE
Siegrist of Pottawattamie asked and received unanimous consent
that House Concurrent Resolution 4 be immediately messaged to
the Senate.
