1 1 Section 1. Section 321G.15, Code Supplement 1997, is
1 2 amended to read as follows:
1 3 321G.15 OPERATION PENDING REGISTRATION.
1 4 The commission shall furnish snowmobile and all-terrain
1 5 vehicle dealers with pasteboard cards bearing the words
1 6 "registration applied for" and space for the date of purchase.
1 7 An unregistered all-terrain vehicle or snowmobile sold by a
1 8 dealer shall bear one of these cards which entitles the
1 9 purchaser to operate it for ten days immediately following the
1 10 purchase. The purchaser of a registered all-terrain vehicle
1 11 or snowmobile may operate it for ten days immediately
1 12 following the purchase, without having completed a transfer of
1 13 registration. A snowmobile or all-terrain vehicle dealer
1 14 shall make application and pay all registration and title fees
1 15 if applicable on behalf of the purchaser of a snowmobile or
1 16 all-terrain vehicle.
1 17 EXPLANATION
1 18 Current law provides that a snowmobile and all-terrain
1 19 vehicle dealer is required to pay all registration fees on
1 20 behalf of the purchaser of a snowmobile or all-terrain
1 21 vehicle.
1 22 This bill provides that in addition to paying the
1 23 registration fees, a dealer shall also pay all title fees on
1 24 behalf of the purchaser of a snowmobile or all-terrain
1 25 vehicle.
