  1  5 RELATING TO THE EXTENSION OF THE REDUCED EXCISE TAX
  1  6    IMPOSED ON MOTOR FUEL CONTAINING ETHANOL.

  1  8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF IOWA: 
  1  9 
  1 10    Section 1.  Section 452A.3, subsections 1 and 2, Code 1997,
  1 11 are amended to read as follows:
  1 12    1.  For the privilege of operating motor vehicles in this
  1 13 state, an excise tax of twenty cents per gallon is imposed
  1 14 upon the use of all motor fuel used for any purpose except
  1 15 aviation gasoline and except motor fuel containing at least
  1 16 ten percent alcohol distilled from cereal grains grown in the
  1 17 United States for the period ending June 30, 2000, and except
  1 18 as otherwise provided in this section and in this division.
  1 19    2.  a.  For the privilege of operating aircraft in this
  1 20 state an excise tax of eight cents per gallon is imposed on
  1 21 the use of all aviation gasoline.
  1 22    2. b.  For the privilege of operating motor vehicles in
  1 23 this state, an excise tax of nineteen cents per gallon until
  1 24 June 30, 2000 2007, is imposed upon the use of motor fuel
  1 25 containing at least ten percent alcohol distilled from cereal
  1 26 grains grown in the United States and used for any purpose
  1 27 except as otherwise provided in this division.
