1 1 Section 1. Section 148E.10, Code 1997, is repealed.
1 2 EXPLANATION
1 3 This bill repeals Code section 148E.10, which provides that
1 4 a registered acupuncturist shall not engage in the performance
1 5 of acupuncture until the person upon whom the acupuncture is
1 6 to be performed has been evaluated and referred by a person
1 7 licensed to practice medicine and surgery, osteopathy,
1 8 osteopathic medicine and surgery, chiropractic, podiatry, or
1 9 dentistry. Upon repeal of the Code section, a prior
1 10 evaluation and referral to an acupuncturist would no longer be
1 11 necessary in order to obtain acupuncture services.
