1 1 Section 1. Section 483A.1, subsection 2, Code l997, is
1 2 amended by adding the following new paragraph:
1 3 NEW PARAGRAPH. g. Family hunting license:
1 4 Owner-applicant ............................ $ 25.50
1 5 Each family member within the third
1 6 degree of consanguinity ....................... $ 12.50
1 7 Sec. 2. NEW SECTION. 483A.8A FAMILY HUNTING LICENSE.
1 8 1. As used in this section, unless the context otherwise
1 9 requires:
1 10 a. "Family member" means any resident or nonresident who
1 11 is related within the third degree of consanguinity to an
1 12 owner.
1 13 b. "Farm unit" means a farm unit as defined in section
1 14 483A.24.
1 15 c. "Owner" means an owner as defined in section 483A.24.
1 16 2. Upon application and payment of the appropriate fees,
1 17 including the wildlife habitat stamp fee, an owner shall be
1 18 issued a family hunting license. Each family member named in
1 19 the application shall also receive a family hunting license
1 20 upon payment of the appropriate fees, including the wildlife
1 21 habitat stamp fee.
1 22 3. The family hunting license authorizes the licensee to
1 23 hunt deer, wild turkey, or other game and wildlife during the
1 24 open season for each species. The family hunting license is
1 25 valid only for hunting on the farm unit of the owner.
1 26 4. The department shall adopt rules, pursuant to chapter
1 27 17A, as necessary to administer this section.
1 28 EXPLANATION
1 29 This bill provides for a family hunting license for the
1 30 owner of a farm unit and for family members who are related
1 31 within the third degree of consanguinity to the owner. A
1 32 license fee of $25.50 is provided for the owner and an
1 33 additional fee of $12.50 is provided for each family member
1 34 who wishes to be included. The license provides for hunting
1 35 on the owner's farm unit only, and permits the hunting of
2 1 deer, wild turkey, or other game or wildlife during the open
2 2 season for that species. Persons related within the third
2 3 degree of consanguinity to the owner include children,
2 4 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, uncles, aunts, brothers,
2 5 sisters, nephews, nieces, parents, grandparents, and great-
2 6 grandparents.
2 7 A violator is guilty of a simple misdemeanor which is
2 8 punishable by a fine of not less than $50 nor more than $100,
2 9 or imprisonment for not more than 30 days.
