  1  1    Amend the amendment, S-5680, to House File 2395, as
  1  2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the House, as
  1  3 follows:
  1  4    #1.  Page 2, by inserting after line 38 the
  1  5 following:
  1  6    "Sec. ___.  BUILDING INSPECTION.
  1  7    1.  The appropriation made in 1998 Iowa Acts, House
  1  8 File 2498, if enacted, to the department of
  1  9 inspections and appeals, health facilities division,
  1 10 is reduced by $90,000.  The requirement in that
  1 11 appropriation for the health facilities division to
  1 12 use $90,000 to pay the salary, support, and
  1 13 miscellaneous expenses of a building inspector
  1 14 position is void and the provisions of subsection 2
  1 15 are substituted in lieu of that requirement.
  1 16    2.  Notwithstanding section 8.33 and the
  1 17 reversionary provisions of 1997 Iowa Acts, chapter
  1 18 209, section 10, unnumbered paragraph 2, of the moneys
  1 19 appropriated in 1997 Iowa Acts, chapter 209, section
  1 20 10, subsection 5, which remain unobligated or
  1 21 unexpended at the close of the fiscal year beginning
  1 22 July 1, 1997, $90,000, or so much thereof as is
  1 23 available, shall not revert but shall be transferred
  1 24 to the department of inspections and appeals, health
  1 25 facilities division.  The transferred moneys shall be
  1 26 used in the succeeding fiscal year to contract for the
  1 27 performance of building inspections.  Moneys
  1 28 transferred pursuant to this section which revert at
  1 29 the end of the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1998,
  1 30 shall be transferred to the general fund of the
  1 31 state."
