1 7 Sec. ___. Section 229A.12, if enacted by 1998 Iowa
1 8 Acts, Senate File 2398, section 12, is amended to read
1 9 as follows:
1 10 229A.12 DIRECTOR OF HUMAN SERVICES –
1 11 RESPONSIBILITY FOR COSTS – DUTIES – REIMBURSEMENT.
1 12 The director of human services shall be responsible
1 13 for all costs relating to the evaluation and treatment
1 14 of persons committed to the director's custody under
1 15 any provision of this chapter. Reimbursement may be
1 16 obtained by the director from the patient and any
1 17 person legally liable or bound by contract for the
1 18 support of the patient for the cost of care and
1 19 treatment provided. As used in this section, "any
1 20 person legally liable" does not include a political
1 21 subdivision."
