  1  1    Amend House File 2395, as amended, passed, and
  1  2 reprinted by the House, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 2, line 2, by striking the word
  1  4 "prisoners" and inserting the following:  "inmates,
  1  5 provided for the fiscal years beginning July 1, 1997,
  1  6 and July 1, 1998, notwithstanding any contrary
  1  7 provision in law, revenues recouped from inmate work
  1  8 allowances by correctional facilities shall not be
  1  9 retained and used for budgeted operational expenses of
  1 10 the facilities but shall be deposited in the general
  1 11 fund of the state for appropriation for department of
  1 12 corrections' expenses or other purpose by the general
  1 13 assembly".
