1 8 "Sec. ___. IOWA PUBLIC EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT
1 9 SYSTEM – RECALCULATION OF BENEFITS. Commencing with
1 10 benefits payable in July 1998, an active or inactive
1 11 vested member of the Iowa public employees' retirement
1 12 system who retired pursuant to chapter 97B on or after
1 13 July 1, 1993, but before July 1, 1994, shall be
1 14 entitled to receive a readjusted monthly retirement
1 15 allowance and an applicable recalculation amount as
1 16 determined by the department by recalculating the
1 17 member's monthly retirement allowance pursuant to the
1 18 option choice selected by the member at retirement and
1 19 based upon using a percentage multiplier of fifty-
1 20 eight percent. For purposes of this section, "an
1 21 applicable recalculation amount" means the additional
1 22 amount that would have been paid to a member as
1 23 described in this section as a monthly retirement
1 24 allowance pursuant to the option choice selected by
1 25 the member at retirement if the percentage multiplier
1 26 in effect at the time the member had retired would
1 27 have been fifty-eight percent."
