  1  1    Amend the House amendment, S-5503, to Senate File
  1  2 2311, as amended, passed, and reprinted by the Senate,
  1  3 as follows:
  1  4    #1.  Page 1, by inserting after line 4 the
  1  5 following:
  1  6    "#   .  Page 55, by inserting after line 28 the
  1  7 following:
  1  8    "Sec. 1001.  CODE EDITOR DIRECTIVE.  In order to
  1  9 distinguish between chapter 486, Code and Code
  1 10 Supplement 1997, which is not repealed until January
  1 11 1, 2001, and which will appear in Code 1999, and the
  1 12 new sections of chapter 486 which are created by this
  1 13 Act, which are effective January 1, 1999, and which
  1 14 will also appear in Code 1999, the Code editor shall
  1 15 codify the new sections of chapter 486, as enacted by
  1 16 this Act, as a new chapter 486A."
  1 17    #2.  Page 55, by inserting after line 28 the
  1 18 following:
  1 19    "Sec. ___.  EFFECTIVE DATE.  Section 1001 of this
  1 20 Act, being deemed of immediate importance, takes
  1 21 effect upon enactment."
  1 22    #3.  By renumbering as necessary.
