  1  1    Amend House File 2348, as amended, passed, and
  1  2 reprinted by the House, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  By striking page 1, line 1, through page 3,
  1  4 line 10, and inserting the following:
  1  5    "Sec. ___. COMMUNITY-BASED SERVICES – LEGISLATIVE
  1  6 FINDINGS.  The general assembly makes the following
  1  7 findings in regard to the development of community-
  1  8 based services for persons with mental illness or a
  1  9 developmental disability:
  1 10    1.  The efforts of many families, consumers,
  1 11 professionals, advocates, and policymakers to expand
  1 12 the availability of community-based and consumer
  1 13 designed services have successfully resulted in a
  1 14 reduction in the daily populations served by the
  1 15 institutions administered by the department of human
  1 16 services.
  1 17    2.  The staff of the institutions and the leaders
  1 18 of the communities in which the institutions are
  1 19 located are to be commended for good public
  1 20 stewardship in their successful efforts to find
  1 21 appropriate uses for vacant space available in the
  1 22 institutions.
  1 23    3.  The general assembly affirms commitment to
  1 24 support development of community-based approaches and
  1 25 individually designed services and support for persons
  1 26 with mental illness or a developmental disability."
  1 27    #2.  By striking page 5, line 4, through page 7,
  1 28 line 15.
  1 29    #3.  By renumbering as necessary.
