1 1 Amend Senate File 2144 as follows:
1 2 #1. By striking everything after the enacting
1 3 clause and inserting the following:
1 4 "Section 1. NEW SECTION. 275.57 CHANGING
1 5 DIRECTOR DISTRICT BOUNDARIES FOLLOWING DISSOLUTION.
1 6 1. If a school district accepting attachments of a
1 7 dissolved school district is divided into director
1 8 districts as provided in section 275.12, subsection 2,
1 9 paragraph "b", "c", "d", or "e", at the time of
1 10 attachments, the board of directors of the district
1 11 accepting attachments shall develop a proposal in a
1 12 resolution to incorporate the attached territory into
1 13 the director districts contiguous to the attached
1 14 territory. If the attached territory is contiguous to
1 15 more than one director district, the board may divide
1 16 the territory and attach it to more than one director
1 17 district. The extended director district boundaries
1 18 shall be drawn according to standards provided in
1 19 section 275.23A, subsection 1, paragraphs "a", "c",
1 20 and "d".
1 21 2. Prior to adoption of a resolution to
1 22 incorporate the attached territory as provided in
1 23 subsection 1, the board of directors of the school
1 24 district accepting the attachments shall hold a public
1 25 hearing on the proposed director district boundary
1 26 changes contained in the resolution. The board shall
1 27 publish notice of the time and place of a public
1 28 hearing on the resolution. Notice of the time and
1 29 place of the public hearing shall be published not
1 30 less than ten nor more than twenty days before the
1 31 public hearing in a newspaper of general circulation
1 32 in the school district. The public hearing on the
1 33 resolution shall be held not later than May 15
1 34 following dissolution.
1 35 3. The resolution adopted by the school board
1 36 shall contain a legal description of the new director
1 37 district boundaries and a map of the director
1 38 districts as changed by adoption of the resolution,
1 39 and shall be submitted by the school board to the
1 40 state commissioner of elections and the county
1 41 commissioner of elections of each county in which a
1 42 portion of the school district is located by June 15
1 43 following dissolution.
1 44 4. The boundary changes adopted by resolution
1 45 under this section take effect upon adoption of the
1 46 resolution for the next regular school election.
1 47 Sec. 2. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Act, being deemed of
1 48 immediate importance, takes effect upon enactment."
1 49 #2. Title page, by striking line 1 and inserting
1 50 the following: "An Act relating to school district
2 1 action to change the boundaries of director".
