  1  1    Amend the amendment, S-3744, to House File 733, as
  1  2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the House, as
  1  3 follows:
  1  4    #1.  Page 6, by inserting after line 40 the
  1  5 following:
  1  6    "Sec.    .  There is appropriated from the rebuild
  1  7 Iowa infrastructure fund to the department of natural
  1  8 resources for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 1997,
  1  9 and ending June 30, 1998, the following amount, or so
  1 10 much thereof as is necessary, to be used for the
  1 11 purpose designated:  
  1 12    For continuing natural lake preservation efforts:
  1 13 .................................................. $    100,000
  1 14    The department shall award the amount appropriated
  1 15 in this section to a city as defined in section 362.2.
  1 16 The award shall be on a matching basis with the city
  1 17 providing one dollar of funds for each dollar provided
  1 18 by the department.  The county in which the city is
  1 19 located may work in conjunction with the city to
  1 20 provide the matching funds.  The award and matching
  1 21 funds shall be used for the continuation of natural
  1 22 lake preservation efforts, if the city or county has
  1 23 previously received state funding for that purpose.
  1 24 The city, or the city and county, must have dedicated
  1 25 at least $100,000 of local funds in order to qualify
  1 26 for the award and the city must be located in a county
  1 27 having a population of less than 12,000."
