  1  1    Amend the committee amendment, S-3686, to House
  1  2 File 266, as passed by the House, as follows:
  1  3    #1.  Page 12, by inserting after line 45 the
  1  4 following:
  1  5    "Sec. ___.  Section 427B.17, Code 1997, is amended
  1  6 by adding the following new subsection:
  1  7    NEW SUBSECTION.  7.  For purposes of this section,
  1  8 electronic and digital equipment and fiber optic cable
  1  9 of a competitive long distance telephone company
  1 10 assessed as provided in section 476.1D, subsection 10,
  1 11 and first assessed for taxation in this state on or
  1 12 after January 1, 1997, shall be included in the
  1 13 definition of "computer" as defined in section 427A.1,
  1 14 subsection 1, paragraph "j", subparagraph (1)."
