  1  1    Amend Senate File 542 as follows:
  1  2    #1.  Page 1, line 2, by striking the word "ECLIPSE"
  1  3 and inserting the following:  "CLASSIC HORSE".
  1  4    #2.  Page 1, by striking lines 8 through 10 and
  1  5 inserting the following:
  1  6    "For purchase of a trophy for each outstanding
  1  7 Iowa-bred thoroughbred horse, quarter horse, and
  1  8 standardbred horse, to be known as the Iowa classic
  1  9 award, as determined by the department of agriculture
  1 10 and land stewardship:  
  1 11 .................................................. $      1,500
  1 12    The Iowa classic award for the outstanding Iowa-
  1 13 bred thoroughbred horse, quarter horse, and
  1 14 standardbred horse shall be presented by the governor
  1 15 or the governor's designee during the Iowa classic day
  1 16 at Prairie Meadows racetrack."
  1 17    #3.  Page 7, by striking lines 17 through 21 and
  1 18 inserting the following:
  1 19    "NEW SUBSECTION.  5.  For each fiscal year
  1 20 beginning July 1, 1998, there is appropriated from the
  1 21 general fund of the state to the department of
  1 22 agriculture and land stewardship the amount of one
  1 23 thousand five hundred dollars to be used for purchase
  1 24 of a trophy for each outstanding Iowa-bred
  1 25 thoroughbred horse, quarter horse, and standardbred
  1 26 horse, to be known as the Iowa classic award, as
  1 27 determined by the department of agriculture and land
  1 28 stewardship.  The presentation of the Iowa classic
  1 29 award shall be made by the governor or the governor's
  1 30 designee during the Iowa classic day at Prairie
  1 31 Meadows racetrack."
