  1  1    Amend the amendment, S-3355, to House File 693, as
  1  2 amended, passed, and reprinted by the House, as
  1  3 follows:
  1  4    #1.  Page 1, by striking lines 3 through 38 and
  1  5 inserting the following:
  1  6    "#   .  Page 1, by inserting before line 1 the
  1  7 following:
  1  8    "Section 1.  Section 135.11, Code 1997, is amended
  1  9 by adding the following new subsection:
  1 10    NEW SUBSECTION.  18A.  Consult with the office of
  1 11 statewide clinical education programs at the
  1 12 university of Iowa college of medicine and annually
  1 13 submit a report to the general assembly by January 15
  1 14 verifying the number of physicians in active practice
  1 15 in Iowa by county who are engaged in providing
  1 16 obstetrical care.  To the extent data are readily
  1 17 available, the report shall include information
  1 18 concerning the number of deliveries per year by
  1 19 specialty and county, the age of physicians performing
  1 20 deliveries, and the number of current year graduates
  1 21 of the university of Iowa college of medicine and the
  1 22 university of osteopathic medicine and health sciences
  1 23 entering into residency programs in obstetrics,
  1 24 gynecology, and family practice.  The report may
  1 25 include additional data relating to access to
  1 26 obstetrical services that may be available.""
