1 6 "Sec. ___. NEW SECTION. 483A.28 DEPREDATION
1 7 PERMITS – NONRESIDENT DEER HUNTING PASSPORTS.
1 8 1. a. In administering a deer depredation permit
1 9 program, the department shall accept the
1 10 recommendations of the United States department of
1 11 agriculture, animal damage control. In determining
1 12 the value of crop damage caused by deer, the
1 13 department shall include the damage to all types of
1 14 agricultural and horticultural crops caused by the
1 15 deer population.
1 16 b. A deer damage control fund is created in the
1 17 state treasury under the control of the department.
1 18 The moneys credited to the deer damage control fund
1 19 shall be used by the department to fund the deer
1 20 depredation permit program.
1 21 2. In addition to the requirements of section
1 22 483A.8, a nonresident who hunts deer in this state
1 23 shall have a nonresident deer passport. Upon
1 24 application and payment of a fee of ten dollars, the
1 25 department shall issue a nonresident deer passport to
1 26 the applicant. The fees collected by the department
1 27 shall be credited to the deer damage control fund.
1 28 Sec. ___. APPROPRIATION. There is appropriated
1 29 from the general fund of the state to the deer damage
1 30 control fund for the fiscal year beginning July 1,
1 31 1997, and ending June 30, 1998, the sum of twenty-five
1 32 thousand dollars, or so much thereof as is necessary,
1 33 to be used for the purposes authorized for the deer
1 34 damage control fund."

1 36 "wildlife" and inserting the following: "deer".
