Page 1, by striking lines 10 through 11 and 1 3 inserting the following: "additives, degreasers, 1 4 waxes, polishes, pure solvents,paints, with the1 5exception of latex-based paints,lacquers, thinners,". 1 6 #2. Page 1, by striking line 13 and inserting the 1 7 following: "petroleum base,andpetroleum-based 1 8 fertilizers, and paints with the exception of latex- 1 9 based paints. However,". 1 10 #3. Page 1, by inserting after line 17 the 1 11 following: 1 12 "Sec. ___. Section 455F.8B, subsection 2, Code 1 13 1997, is amended by striking the subsection. 1 14 Sec. ___. Section 455F.9, Code 1997, is amended to 1 15 read as follows: 1 16 455F.9 EDUCATION PROGRAM. 1 17 In addition to the "Toxic Cleanup Days" program the 1 18 department shall implement a public information and 1 19 education program regarding the use and disposal of 1 20 household hazardous materials. The program shall 1 21 provide appropriate information concerning the 1 22 reduction in use of the materials, including the 1 23 purchase of smaller quantities,andselection of 1 24 alternative products, and hazards associated with the 1 25 use of unregistered and unregulated alternative 1 26 products. The department shall cooperate with 1 27 existing educational institutions, the household 1 28 product industry, distributors, wholesalers, and 1 29 retailers, and other agencies of government and shall 1 30 enlist the support of service organizations, whenever 1 31 possible, in promoting and conducting the programs in 1 32 order to effectuate the household hazardous materials 1 33 policy of the state." 1 34 #4.
